Facebook ad account disabled in Ghana? How to get it back (2026)

A chain of glossy white links curving across a black floor, with the middle link split open and a thin red line looping through the gap to reconnect it, beside a small white shield-shaped plinth.

If your Facebook ad account is disabled in Ghana, open Meta Business Support Home on a computer, select the restricted account and follow the steps under What you can do: pay a failed balance, confirm your identity, turn on two-factor authentication or request a review. Meta says reviews typically take 48 hours. Do not open a new account to get around it.

Why was my Facebook ad account disabled?

Meta restricts advertisers for two broad reasons: something broke its rules, or something looked risky. Its help centre lists the triggers: ads or behaviour that break the Community Standards or Advertising Standards, a business portfolio or asset that may have been hacked, missing two-factor authentication, and unusual payment or account activity, including high rates of failed or disputed payments.

In Ghana, the causes we meet most often when we audit ad accounts are ordinary ones: a card that fails at the payment threshold, a new account nobody has secured, and products that Meta or Ghanaian law treat as sensitive, such as slimming teas, skin toners and trading schemes. Each has a fix, covered below.

A restriction is not always a full ban. Meta may lower your daily spending limit or payment threshold, remove some payment or advertising features, stop you adding admins or creating ad accounts, or take away the ability to advertise altogether. It can land on four different things, and knowing which one is hit tells you where to start:

  • Ad account: the account, its ads and some of its advertising assets are disabled.
  • Business portfolio: nothing it owns is allowed to advertise.
  • Facebook Page: the Page cannot run ads.
  • Personal profile: you cannot advertise or create ads, and ad accounts where you are the only user may be disabled too.

What does each Facebook ad account message mean?

Meta's exact wording changes from time to time, but the messages below cover what advertisers see in Ads Manager, Billing & payments and Business Support Home. Find the one on your screen, then take the matching step. Most are fixable in an afternoon; only a policy restriction needs a review and some patience.

One rule applies to every row: fix the cause before you ask Meta to look again, whether the cause is a card, a missing security setting or a claim in your ad. The sections after the table cover each fix in turn.

Daily spending limit reachedNot a ban. Meta caps daily spend for most advertisers based on their history.Wait for the reset at midnight in your ad account's time zone. The limit usually rises as your history builds.

How do you appeal a disabled Facebook ad account?

You appeal inside Meta Business Support Home, not by email and not through a stranger on WhatsApp. Meta's help pages link to it at facebook.com/business-support-home, and the older Account Quality address, facebook.com/accountquality, is still linked to the same tool. Use a computer, and use a profile that is an admin on the restricted account, because only admins can request a review.

Meta says a review is typically completed in 48 hours, though some take longer. You get a limited number of review requests and a completed review is final, so fix the cause first and keep your explanation short: what you sell, what went wrong and what you changed.

Watch the clock. Meta says an ad account disabled for a policy violation that stays ineligible for reinstatement for 6 months can no longer be reinstated, and unused prepaid funds may be forfeited where the law allows. A suspended personal Facebook profile has its own deadline: Meta gives you 180 days to appeal. The steps in Business Support Home:

  • Open Business Support Home and select Account status overview in the left menu.
  • Select the restricted ad account, Page, business portfolio or profile, and read the reason Meta gives.
  • Complete any step shown first under What you can do: confirm your identity, complete verification or secure your account.
  • If Request review is offered and you believe the restriction is wrong, select it and complete the on-screen steps.
  • After reinstatement, turn your ads back on in Ads Manager. Meta does not restart ads that were running before the restriction.

How do you confirm your identity with a Ghana Card?

When Meta sees unusual activity, it may ask you to prove the account is really yours. Depending on the case, it can ask for the email address on your account, your mobile phone for an SMS code, a photo of your ID and the payment method on the ad account. Meta says that once you start, you may need to finish within a set time, so gather everything first.

Meta accepts one government ID, such as a passport, a driver's licence or a national identity card, so your Ghana Card works. The ID needs to show your name with your date of birth or your photo. You may physically cover details Meta does not need before you take the picture, but Meta rejects photos that have been digitally edited to hide information.

Why do failed payments disable ad accounts in Ghana?

When a charge fails, Meta pauses your ads and disables the ad account until you pay the amount due. To fix it, go to Billing & payments, select the ad account, then Payment methods and Pay now, with a card that works. Our guide 'How to pay for Facebook and Instagram ads from Ghana' covers which Ghanaian bank and dollar cards Meta can charge.

Two mistakes turn a payment problem into a trust problem. Meta lists high rates of failed payments and disputed payments among its reasons for restrictions, so do not keep retrying a card your bank is blocking, and do not ask your bank to reverse a Meta charge before you have raised it with Meta through Business Support Home. A funded backup card is the simplest prevention.

Which products get Ghanaian ad accounts restricted?

Some of the fastest-selling products on Ghanaian Instagram are the ones Meta's rules and Ghana's Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) watch most closely. Meta says it may reject an ad that does not comply with the laws in the advertiser's jurisdiction, and it restricts accounts for severe or repeated violations, so a Ghanaian rule you ignore can become a Meta problem.

The fix is usually the claim, not the targeting. Remove cure and body-shaming claims, target adults where Meta requires it, and get FDA approval where Ghanaian law requires it. These are the categories to check at the time of writing (September 2026):

  • Slimming teas, herbal mixtures and supplements: Meta requires weight loss and supplement ads to target people aged 18 or older, and bans claims that a product can cure, heal or eliminate conditions such as diabetes. FDA Ghana's advertising guidelines prohibit ads for treating, preventing or curing listed conditions, including obesity, diabetes, hypertension, infertility, sexual impotence and fibroids, and say regulated products may not be advertised on social media or the internet without FDA approval.
  • Skin toning and lightening creams: Meta bans ads that promote skin whitening or bleaching products that cause permanent skin colour change. FDA Ghana requires every approved skin toning or lightening advert to state 'Does not contain hydroquinone and its derivatives'.
  • Body-shaming copy: Meta bans ads with statements of inferiority about someone's appearance, including negative questions about body parts, so a line like 'Is your belly embarrassing you?' can sink an ad for a product that is otherwise allowed.
  • Forex, crypto and investment offers: Meta bans ads for binary options, contract for difference (CFD) trading and initial coin offerings. Crypto exchanges, wallets and trading need Meta's written permission and a licence from a jurisdiction on Meta's list, and no African country is on it. In July 2026, Ghana's Securities and Exchange Commission named 23 unlicensed online investment schemes promoted on social media.

Should you open a new ad account after a ban?

No. Meta lists creating new ad accounts or other business assets to repeat violations after an account is disabled as evading enforcement, and its account integrity rules cover accounts created or repurposed to evade a previous removal, including ones with common ownership and content. Meta may then restrict the business portfolio, ad account, Page or profile involved, so a workaround can cost you assets that were still clean.

The same goes for buying or renting an ad account. Meta's spam policy bans selling, buying or exchanging accounts, Pages and admin roles, so an 'agency ad account' sold in a WhatsApp group breaks the rules before your first ad runs. Running the same rejected ads through a friend's clean profile fits what Meta also calls evasion: a network of accounts running the same or similar violating ads.

Two more things not to do. Do not delete a rejected ad to hide it: Meta says that does not remove the violation and can cost you the right to a review. And do not pay anyone who claims to work for Meta and offers to restore your account. Meta says its representatives never ask for your password or payment details, and its emails come only from domains such as facebook.com, fb.com and meta.com.

How do you stop your ad account being disabled again?

Most restrictions start with small gaps you can close in an afternoon. Work through the checklist below once, then open Business Support Home every Monday alongside your sales numbers, so you see a warning before it turns into a disabled account and a week of lost orders.

You can do all of it yourself. If your account keeps getting flagged and you cannot see why, Maxme's free Ads & Store Audit reviews your ads, Instagram or website and sends a short video with the three fixes that matter most on WhatsApp within 2 working days.

  • Keep your ad account, Page and pixel in your own business portfolio, and add a second trusted admin so one restricted profile does not stop the business.
  • Turn on two-factor authentication for every admin. Meta may restrict users of a business portfolio older than 90 days who do not meet its requirement.
  • Keep your Ghana Card or passport to hand, and make sure your profile name matches it, before Meta asks you to confirm your identity.
  • Add a backup card, keep both funded before each payment threshold, and raise billing questions with Meta before you dispute a charge with your bank.
  • Grow spend steadily on a new ad account. Meta raises daily spending limits as your history builds and as you follow its policies.
  • Read Meta's Advertising Standards for your category before launch, and get FDA approval for regulated products such as herbal medicines, food supplements and cosmetics.
  • Keep claims honest: no cures, no guaranteed returns, no questions that shame someone's body.
  • Never share your password. Give agencies and freelancers partner access through Meta Business Suite instead.

Frequently asked questions

How long does Meta take to review a disabled ad account?

Meta says its review of a restricted advertising account is typically completed in 48 hours, although some take longer. Reviews of rejected ads also aim for a decision within 48 hours. Track the status in Business Support Home instead of filing new requests, because Meta allows only a limited number of review requests and treats a completed review as final.

How many times can I appeal a restricted Facebook ad account?

Meta does not publish a number. Its help centre says there is a limited number of times you can request an advertising restriction review, and that once a review is completed the decision is final. Asking for a review will not hurt your standing with Meta, but use each request well: fix the cause first, then explain briefly what you changed.

Can I use my Ghana Card to verify my Facebook account?

Yes. Meta accepts a government-issued national identity card, alongside passports and driver's licences, and the Ghana Card is Ghana's national identity card. The photo must clearly show your name with your date of birth or your photo. You may physically cover details Meta does not need, but Meta rejects images that were digitally edited to hide information.

Can I get a disabled ad account back after 6 months?

No. Meta says an ad account disabled for a policy violation that stays ineligible for reinstatement for 6 months can no longer be reinstated, and unused prepaid funds may be forfeited where the law allows. Meta can also disable an account permanently before then. Fix the cause and request a review as soon as the restriction appears, not months later.

Can other admins run ads if my profile is restricted from advertising?

Often, yes. Meta says that when a personal profile is restricted from advertising, other members of the business portfolio, ad account or Page may still be able to advertise, although ad accounts where you are the only user may be disabled. Use that to keep a compliant business running, not to rerun rejected ads, which Meta treats as evading enforcement.

Can someone restore my Facebook ad account for a fee?

Be very careful. Reviews happen inside Meta Business Support Home, and Meta says its representatives never ask for your password, payment details or other sensitive information over chat, text, email or phone. Anyone on WhatsApp or Telegram charging to unblock an account is at best guessing and at worst taking it over. Report suspicious emails to phish@fb.com.
